Lizzie is in Pup.

Lizzie went for her scan today and has been confirmed in pup. Picked up at least 6 on the scan but good possibility of there being more!

The Two pups had their first look at the drag lure and took to it well. Both chased the lure for approximately 200 metres and seemed to be putting it in. They didn't kill the lure but at least picked up the dummy and ran back down the gallop with it in their mouths showing it off!! This was the first time they had seen the drag so hopefully they are going the right way. They will be given time to mature now and hopefully strengthen up. 

Lizzie seems to be getting fat so it looks like she might be in pup if not she will be signing up for a Jenny Craig diet plan! She will have a scan at the end of this month to confirm yes or no!

Lizzie (Collison Risk) Surgical Insemination.

The link above shows the mating of Lizzie.  Took Lizzie to Shirley Vets this morning to be surgically inseminated to Elite State. Had the chance to watch the operation and it was quite something. After being prepared for surgery Lizzie was placed on the operating table and a incision was made and then the two ovaries placed out of the cut. Then two catheters placed into the ovaries ready for the semen to be injected into them.  The semen is thawed and i was shown the sperm swimming looking through the  microscope. Sperm is them injected and then the wound is stitched up.
Felt a bit guilty putting the bitch through this to have a chance to get her in pup! Lizzie will have a scan in 28 days to see if it has been successful.

The Pups at Nine Months

The pups are doing great but they are not going to be massive boned pups. They are very athletic and love to gallop. They are the sort that are never still! Very alert i know when there is a Hare in the paddock because they bark the place down! They chase anything that moves even the smallest of birds especially when out in the big paddock.
The retired dogs are well and so far Ridgy and George have had a Hare and a Possum, the possum decided to visit their pen, not a wise move!
Lizzie has settled in well but could do with her voice box removing! She has just come into season so if the days are good (vets open over xmas/new year) she will use a straw from Elite State.

Smash Amego in again.

Good to see Amego go in for his 4th win down in Southland. He got away well but rode trouble at the first bend to lead coming home.
