Lizzie went in to pup on Monday night and had her first pup after around 2 hours of pushing at approximately 12.30 am. A big black bitch that was huge for a pup. She then went on to have 8 more and finished at 6 am with a total of 9 puppies. 5 Dogs and 4 bitches all black except a dark brindle bitch. They started to suckle and I thought things were sweet. Wednesday morning she was restless and off the pups. She didnt look well so I rushed her to the vets. They did an Xray and said that there were 4 more puppies inside her. She had an emergency operation but all 4 pups were dead inside her the vet also said her Uterus was infected and massively swollen so it was removed.
We had to hand feed the 9 puppies every 2 to 3 hours and all seemed to be going well. Thursday morning 2 puppies were struggling and died, one being the brindle bitch that really gutted me. We lost another pup on Thursday evening another good looking bitch.
Lizzie was not in a good state but thankfully survived the night at the vets much to my pleasure because i thought we had lost her. She came home on Friday looking very thin but she went straight to the pups and started feeding them.
Today Sunday she seems to be much better and starting to eat with lots of prompts. The pups seem to be going well now and are thriving on Lizzies milk and the milk we are supplementing them with.
On a much more brighter note Tom (Yeboah) cheered us up by winning the Wellington Sprint Final at Wanganui on Friday night. He gave them all a start and ran a cracking race finishing fast to win by a length and a half. Awesome for Tony Potts his owner and Steve Clark the trainer.

Disappointing news.
Mo (Feral Helen) has been retired after her run at Addington yesterday. She was having her first run back for me and had been working really well. Drawn in trap 8 this is stewards report.
"Racing into the bend FERAL HELEN (8) faltered and lost ground with a subsequent veterinary examination revealing a torn gracilis requiring a 28 day stand down".
She is walking OK today but the muscle has pulled away so time to call it a day with her. Hopefully find a nice home for her in the near future.

Happy New Year
Very quiet on the Kennel front. The whelping pen is now complete again and ready for Mid January. Lizzie (Collision Risk) is very big at the moment and looks like she has a few pups on board. The hot weather is uncomfortable for her but she still likes to let you know that she has a bark!!
Both Sam and Mo are in work and its just difficult getting them a C1 at Addington.

Good day at the races!
Firstly it was great to see Tom (Yeboah) finish 3rd in the Group 2 Dash For Cash final at Wanganui. He came out well but just not quite catch the flying Subic Bay to the bend where if he had he might have gave it a nudge. Fair play to the winner with its outstanding time of 17.20! Tom finished well but was not going to catch the winner. Nice breeders bonus of $750 coming our way.
In the afternoon Sam (Feral Coaster) won his maiden at Addington in the time of 17.60 the fastest of the 3 maiden races. Great to see the dog comeback from the stopper pad injury and if Jacqui had her way he would have been sitting on the sofa by now. This was his 2nd race back since the injury in January!
Mo (Feral Helen) has been galloped well and is showing no sign of the toe injury that has kept her sidelined.

Kennel News
Looks like Lizzie (Collison Risk) is in pup either that or I am feeding her too much!! Next week we will get her scanned just to confirm this.
Tom (Yeboah) won his heat of the LIQUORLAND WANGANUI DASH FOR CASH FINAL - C5F - 305M
$13,000.00 Group 2

and now qualifies for the final on friday and he has drawn trap 2.
Sam (Feral Coaster) ran 5th on his come back race and trialled nicely last week at Addington.
Mo (Feral Helen) has had 2 gallops and it looks like the injury is fine now because there has been no swelling in her foot.

Tom (Yeboah) Manakau
Well Tom (Yeboah) missed his break in the Galaxy final to finish 6th. Gutted really but proud just to have a runner in a Cat A. Today Sunday he was back at Manakau in a C5 against top class Northern sprinters. Whats he do ? Blasts out and wins by 8 Lengths in the fastest of the day 18.21.
