A day in the sun

Mo and Sam playing around on the gallop.

Boxer having fun with the stuffed sock

Minnie doing the ice bucket challenge!

Sam and Mo on their second run.

Sam looking for the hare that has been running around the paddock teasing the dogs in the runs.
We took some of the pups for a run down the gallop. Ben went to Carr's Road and did okay again at the track. The old dogs had a walk around the paddock. We expected to see one of the three young hares that have made our paddock their playground, and have our arms ripped off, but we didn't. We watch them out the window playing and annoying the magpies. They are good to see. They drive the dogs nuts though once they see them. Keeps the hounds keen.

Weekend work outs!

Ben went off and had a slip from inside the starting boxes. He struggled and panicked at first even when I held him but second time in he calmed down and left the boxes well when the lure came past. He chased well and bit on at the end so progress is being made!
The others had a free gallop up and down the gallop just to give them a blow out. All of them worked well and enjoyed their freedom!
The four dogs have been named and the books arrived from the GRNZ with their cards. All have been the prefix Feral.
Keen on any of them please feel free to give me a ring to discuss things.

Saturday at the Trial Track.

Took Ben to Carrs Road this morning. What a different a week makes. He was whining in the Van when we got close to the track and then pulled hard when he jumped out of the travel cage. Start to bark at the first trial he saw! Waited for 4 trials and then slipped him half way along the straight. Jumped well from me slipping him and chased hard all the way around.  Decided to bite on the lure at the end and gave it a few good tugs and shakes. Great to see Ben getting his act together and showing some pace as well! Traps/Boxes next!

Another Saturday at the trial track.

Packed the van with Sam and Ben and off to Carrs Road. Let Sam go first having his second box trial, came out a lot better although he still needs a few more to get his trapping boots on! Ran very well and chased hard and could not asked for more.
Bens time. Took him to the first bend and decided to slip him 3/4 way round. Lure came around and off he went really chased very well and I was rapped with his effort. Still not a bite on at the lure but he did give it a few nudges. Like all of the litter this has taken time. I know he put it all in because he is a little stiff all over but with plenty of massage he will be good in a couple of days.

News

Took both Minnie and Ben to Carrs Road on Saturday. Minnie had a box trial and came out well and chased hard and showed a nice turn of foot. Ben watched several trials and then I decided to take him over to the far side away from any distraction. Obviously was a bit anxious that he would turn back and not chase. As the lure came round he was slipped and he actually chased the lure that was basically on his nose. Not 100% yet but its a start especially after showing no interest several weeks ago. I then sat with him watching more trials and his interest in the trials and the barking was pleasing to see. Hopefully he is getting the idea now but only time will tell.
Mo was taken to Addington on Monday and was slipped from the sprint boxes. Her run home was very pleasing seeing that she had never seen the track before. One or two comments from those watching about her time was interesting!
Boxer the Yellow Mustard pup is growing fast and now taller than Minnie who must weigh in at 27kg so I guess he will be touching 30kg and still growing!

Very Sad news

Had upsetting and bad news about Max. Kathy had taken him to the vet to have an Xray on his back/hip because of his condition. The xray showed a break in the pelvis bone which had occurred possible 4 to 6 months ago! He had been to the breakers and obviously the stress and the strain of this experience had highlighted this injury. The injury was very severe and because of this Max has been put to sleep, We are really gutted but the vet said it was so severe it would not have been fair on Max even to keep him as a pet.
He was such a happy dog full of character and obviously super tough because he never stopped running around even though he was carrying this injury.

RIP MAX
