Have now retired 3 of the Oaks Road X Collision Risk litter and we will be looking to rehome them in the near future.
On the racing front Feral Kaiaka has now moved up to C3 grade and has finished 5th and 4th in this grade.
Darth winning his C2 event he is in Box 1
Greyhound kennels established on the West Coast of NZ. The kennel name comes from the delightful description Helen Clark used when talking about West Coasters in 2000. The open spaces and the beaches were a top place to rear pups up until racing age. Now Based close to Oxford Canterbury on 4 hectares. We now breed and train as well as rear pups. Kennnel news and a Race !
Darth (Feral Kaiaka) finished 3rd in his second C2 race which was pleasing to see. Going wide on the bend costs him in all of his races but at least he generally gets a trouble free run!
Other Kennel news is that we have decided to retire both Daisy (Feral Whanau) and Dexter (Feral Steadfast) just on the fact that they were not quick enough win C1 so was a pointless exercise and their welfare is something we are high on. They will be going to Nightrave a great rehoming group who hopefully will find a loving home for these guys. If not they will stay here to be pampered!
Dove (Feral Dove Love) picked up a stomach virus and needed to go to the vets to be kept overnight on the drip. When the nursing staff went in the next morning she had ripped the drip out of her leg and shreaded her bedding ! She is now making a good recovery but has lost 2kg weight!

Darth (Feral Kaiaka) gets finally himself out of the C1 Grade!
Darth runs out of Box 5 in the Yellow rug.
Not so good with Dexter (Feral Steadfast) who found trouble and finished 7th. Might be time to call it a day (retirement) with this boy.

Kennel News
Had another 2nd with Darth (Feral Kaiaka) again ran a bit wide off the bend which cost him the race. Checked over and no apparent soreness. Daisy (Feral Whanau) was put over the 520 metres at Addington. Got in to 3rd position at the 1st bend but was kept wide and then faded in the last 50 metres, answered the question so back to sprinting with her. The other two runners are well and fit and just waiting for a race.
At the moment we are boarding a dog for Nightrave rehoming group and organisation that re-homes plenty of greyhounds here in NZ.

Darth's runs 2nd
A little disappointed that Darth ran Second after leading at the bend. Gave a way a bit of ground by running a little wide off the bend.

Winner !!!!
Darth ( Feral Kaiaka) wins his C1 on Tuesday. He got a nice run around them and finished the race off well. Paid $14 on the Tote.
Dove (Feral Dove Love) was not as good as her brother finishing only 6th. She is a frustrating bitch because she can run but prefers not to show it on the track !
Other Kennel news is that Daisy (Feral Whanau) is coming back to some form but now needs a bit of luck in running.

Dove in the final of the C0 maiden final at Addington today. Had her chance but did not run the bend well. She is in the Black/White rug.

Doves first win breaking her Maiden tag.
Took 9 attempts but I knew she had it in her to win a race. Hopefully she will gain confidence from the win and get her head down even harder now !

Sad News
We had some sad news to report. We lost Maggie she was just short of her 10th birthday , she was one of our dogs who did not make the track. We bought her at 8 weeks of age and raised her on the West Coast. She was Skippy's (Feral Duchess) flat mate and they never once had a disagreement! She got badly injured on Sunday when out with the pack of oldies in our paddock.

Mixed week
Had three runners last week and had a 7th 8th and a 4th. Dove (Feral Dove Love) was the best of our runners and hopefully will crack her maiden soon.
Today Darth (Feral Kaiaka) ran a 2nd in a C1 and we were pleased with his effort. Have nominated both Dove and Dexter (Feral Steadfast) for Friday.
Darths 2nd today in 4 the Blue Rug.

Darths run at Addington on Tuesday
Darth (Feral Kaiaka) in the black and white rug in trap 2. Got in to a great position but then ran in to and got dragged down. Finished 6th !
Kennel News
Not reported on the blog for over a month. Problem is that we have not had a win to report on? Had a few places but not troubled the judge. To be honest we have been disappointed with the two maidens in the kennel Dexter (Feral Steadfast) and Dove (Feral Dove Love). Both should have been close to breaking their maiden status but to no avail at the moment.
The two C1 dogs have earned a few dollars with a few placings but again they have not had a lot of luck at the moment generally due to their poor box manners.
Patience is a vertue !!!

Sad News Regarding Lizzie ( Collision Risk )
Sorry to report that Lizzie (Collision Risk) has been PTS because she was suffering from Cancer. Thanks to Millie and Ron who loved her to bits where she was enjoying her retirement and living with her daughter Mo (Feral Helen). Lizzie was a super mum to all her pups and produced the freakish Tom (Yeboah) and several useful pups.

Doves (Feral Dove Love) first race.
Dove had her first race today at Addington. Drawn on the outside she ran pretty green but that was expected. Hopefully she will learn from her new experience.
