Greyhound kennels established on the West Coast of NZ. The kennel name comes from the delightful description Helen Clark used when talking about West Coasters in 2000. The open spaces and the beaches were a top place to rear pups up until racing age. Now Based close to Oxford Canterbury on 4 hectares. We now breed and train as well as rear pups. Charlie wins Eva finishes 4th
Both ran at Addington today. Charlie (Smash Rumour) had his trapping boots on and led from the start out of trap 3. He won by 3.1/2 Lengths in a time of 17.50 for the 295 trip. Eva (Smashin Time) did not get such a good start but showed up well for 4th position 4.1/2 Lengths behind the winner. Great to see both dogs showing a good account of themselves.

Pups get their First course of a hare!
Great to see 3 of the pups get the chance to course a Hare. Took them out for a free gallop up the 300 metre gallop and there was a Hare in the long grass on the other side of the fence. Hare ran backwards and forwards along the fence line giving the pups a good hunt. Hare luckily found a gap and ran for cover whilst the pups had their tongues down to the ground! All 3 were super keen which is good to see!

Kennel news.
Not too much to report on at the moment. The pups have all had 2 free gallops up the straight this week. The main paddock is out of action until it is cut for hay. All of them show a nice touch of pace but its early days yet. Might give them a look at the drag lure at the weekend for the first time.
Both Lizzie and Skippy have come in season but I will not be mating Lizzie this time around because I want to see how her first litter fair.
Tuesday at Southland all three of the Smash Rumour,in time and Amego are on the card so lets hope for another treble.
