Greyhound kennels established on the West Coast of NZ. The kennel name comes from the delightful description Helen Clark used when talking about West Coasters in 2000. The open spaces and the beaches were a top place to rear pups up until racing age. Now Based close to Oxford Canterbury on 4 hectares. We now breed and train as well as rear pups. Kennel news
George ( Feral Fox ) is proving to be frustrating to say the least. Look here to see his form lines, hoping to see the penny drop soon. Skippy has come out of her season well and enjoying retirement with her sister Maggie.
Fatso not so Fat now!
A work out at the beach and then a cool down of the pads in the sea.....Amigo is looking sharp and showing a bit of pace as well.

Kennel News
Amigo the new pup had his 4th gallop on the beach this afternoon and seemed to come down well but hard to judge in the strong breeze and soft sand of the upper beach.
Skippy is through her season and seems to be happy with retirement and having Maggie to chase around the paddock. Ridgy is as mad as ever but very loyal and is always full of fun.
Would be great to see Mildean Panther crack the 28.00 second barrier at Shelbourne Park in the near future and i reckon there is a dog called Dear Pa who is going places in Ireland. Here in NZ the Galaxy sprint looks wide open.

After the Gallop Reward
The pup after his third gallop on the beach. Keen on the seal and pulled like crazy to have a go at it. He was satisfied with the lure and made a good connection with Barney! I was pleased with his reaction and grabbing action. He is keen!

Lastest News
Feral Duchess (Skippy) ran 5th at Addington on Friday. She totally missed the kick going up with the lids and trying to rail at the first got checked slightly. She ran on well to gain some ground up to finish fifth. Not disappointed apart from the draw again of trap 6. She needs the rail badly to be effective so hopefully soon!

Feral Duchess Returns
Skippy runs in race 4 1.02 pm tomorrow at Dunedin but out of trap 8 it will need a bit of luck and early pace to make the first bend in a good position. Lets hope she gets a good run and comes off safe and sound.

Feral Kennels lastest news.
Well Skippy ( Feral Duchess) has been back in training and we are waiting for a return to the track. She is working well and hopefully showing the form thats required to get competitive.
George is still waiting to be graded but is also showing that he has a nice turn of foot , so hopefully he will be running soon.
The two at the kennels are well with Ridgy just recovering from being speyed, the way she yaps i reckon the tongue should have come out!

Still Here!
Not a lot of news really but George is doing OK in his preparation for his tilt at racing. Litter sister Ridgy is here at the kennels looking well and enjoying her runs on the beach chasing seagulls.
Skippy is working very well on the beach and looking good and seems to be enjoying her work. The chance to run 400 plus metres to chase seagulls is great to see and she comes back hardly panting! The cool off in the sea and the drink of sea water must be as good as electrolytes!
All good really and cant wait to watch the English Derby final on Sunday morning here, trap 1 looks a likely winner for Charlie Lister.

Pups Break ins.News 27th March 2011
Ridgy is now back at my kennels because her times do not really justify keeping her in training, although she does look the part she is several lengths behind some of the others in the litter. Can not fault her keen attitude towards the game though.
George is going well and his first time out the closed boxes left him a bit flat footed to say the least. The experience will do him good and improvement is likely.
Ridgy settled in well and ate up and decided Baxter the Labrador was still a friend and good for a laugh!

March News
The two pups are learning their trade and George seems to be showing some promise. Ridgy is very keen but lacks a bit of pace so will be coming back to the kennels to mature. Skippy is now a few weeks out of season and seems to be coming right and enjoying the Coast and her sister Maggie. A hedgehog took a bit of a ear bashing but for some reason the dogs were not keen on attacking it but were certainly trying to deafen it!!!!
Skippy,s sister Utar Jet is running well on the north and is knocking on the door for another win.

Recent updates.
The two pups George and Ridgy by Scotexcited have gone to Supreme Kennels to learn the game. They have already been on the straight chasing the drag and both went very well.
Skippy is back home and is in season. She has been placed in the kennel with Maggie and both enjoy each others company. She was quickly back in to the routine of dragging her blankets out and taking her feed bowl on to her bed!!!!

Skippys Last race.
Made a big decision after her last run to retire Skippy ( Feral Duchess) from racing. She has been running consistently well in C1 class but felt it time to call it a day with several non placement runs. Its been great fun watching her run and cannot complain at her strike rate for places. She always gave her best but sadly like her owner was a bit one paced!!
She will come home to the Kennels in Kaniere and enjoy retirement on the West Coast.
