Greyhound kennels established on the West Coast of NZ. The kennel name comes from the delightful description Helen Clark used when talking about West Coasters in 2000. The open spaces and the beaches were a top place to rear pups up until racing age. Now Based close to Oxford Canterbury on 4 hectares. We now breed and train as well as rear pups. Kennel News
Entered Sam for a Maiden race on Saturday but no C0. Entered Ben and Minnie for a qualifying trial but no Qualifying trial. Because of this took Ben, Minnie and Boxer to Carrs Road for a run. Both Ben and Minnie went OK and their times were very similar. Gave Boxer his first Slip behind the lure and he chased really well for his first look. All new to him so really pleased and he certainly seemed to enjoy the experience. Sam had a gallop yesterday after Mondays where a Hare decided to appear 100 metres up the gallop! Sam spotted it and almost caught it but it just saw Sam at the last moment and decided to run towards me down the gallop. Off Sam went in pursuit only for the hare to turn him at the last second. Sam went sliding on the grass for 20 metres!! Came off a little sore but after plenty of liniment and massage soon came good!

Qualifying Trial.
Sam ( Feral Coaster) and Mo ( Feral Helen) went to Addington tonight for a qualifying trial. The Southerly was blowing well and the heavy rain decided to appear while we were out there. Sam out of box 8 and Mo out of box 7. Both missed the break and were 2 lengths behind early on!! Bit of a messy affair with the winner doing a moderate 17.86. Great effort considering first time in with other dogs and an 8 dog trial!! Both dogs qualified which is pleasing to see.
Not worried about the time because the 1st race was won in 18.04!

Good Luck Charlie.
Good Luck to Charlie ( Smash Rumour) in tonights Galaxy Final. Well done to Malcolm and Lisa and team for getting him there.

UPDATE
Charlie ran 7th in the final. Broke well but got squeezed for room on the run up. Baulked at the bend. Ran a good race and not disgraced in defeat. Still the 7th best sprinter in NZ at the moment!

First win for the Litter!
Zac (Lots of Beersies) wins at Southland today by 6 lengths. Led at the 1st bend and never looked like losing. Well done to the Shake and Bake syndicate.
Pat ( Wairio Dee Jay) ran 2nd in his first run over 457m. He ran on very strongly in the home straight and he seems to be getting his act together!

Latest news
Gave 3 of the dogs Sam, Mo and Ben a trip to Addington for a trial, all went OK and now its time to qualify them when I get a chance! On the racing front Charlie (Smash Rumour) has qualified for the semis of the Galaxy sprint on Wednesday night.
Lizzie the mother of the pups is in season at the moment but I am thinking of not mating her this time around due to several reasons.

General News
Two of the litter ran at Southland today Lots of Beersies finishing 5th and Wairio Dee Jay having his first start finishing 4th after missing his break slightly. Both are entered to run against each other at Dunedin on Sunday.
Good news that Charlie (Smash Rumour) scores another 1st in a C5 at Southland leading all the way to return a 22.60 for the 390 metres trip.
At the kennels all dogs seem to be well and we are just waiting for a chance to take them to Addington.
The dogs up on the North Island seem to be going the right way and the owners seem to be happy with their progress.
