Rob came today to pick up Ted and Rex and make the trip to the North Island.
Good Luck to him and the Family and I hope they go on to be winners for them.
Greyhound kennels established on the West Coast of NZ. The kennel name comes from the delightful description Helen Clark used when talking about West Coasters in 2000. The open spaces and the beaches were a top place to rear pups up until racing age. Now Based close to Oxford Canterbury on 4 hectares. We now breed and train as well as rear pups. Schooling session Sat 21st.
Took four of the dogs today. Mo and Sam were put into the boxes. Both solo trials. Mo came out like a true professional and was pretty impressive chasing hard. Sam being bigger and having only his first trial with the lids down was slow away but ran on nicely. Minnie had a handslip level with the boxes went very well. Rex had his 2nd handslip and ran the bend nicely but will still need a little more work.
Overall very pleasing.

Farewell to Max
Hope Max does us proud and is successful in his racing career. Was very sad saying goodbye to him. He is a big lad. 40 kg. I am sure he will win the hearts of his new owners as he won ours.

Sat 7th Trip to Chertsey
Took a trip to Chertsey schooling track. Went to pick Ted up after watching him trial and then give Mo, Minnie and Rex a run. Mo had her first jump from the traps with lids down and was great to see her jump well and chase hard. Very pleased with her run and time seeing it was her first look at the track and the 1st bend catches them out. Ted ran earlier and showed that he is coming on nicely and Bruce has down a cracking job breakin him in.
Minnie had a handslip from the side of the boxes and after negotiating the tricky 1st bends she came home strongly.Rex had been in the viewing boxes for several trials and I decided to give him a handslip from the bend. Went well for his first chase of the lure and I am sure he will be even keener next time.
