Smash Amego won at Southland today clocking a good time of 22.83 for the 390 metres.
Great to see Amego come out of Trap 8 and race away for a good win. Mixed fortunes for Smash Rumour (Charlie) and Smashin Time (Eva) who finished 2nd and 6th with Eva running very wide for her 1st look at Ascot Park.
Greyhound kennels established on the West Coast of NZ. The kennel name comes from the delightful description Helen Clark used when talking about West Coasters in 2000. The open spaces and the beaches were a top place to rear pups up until racing age. Now Based close to Oxford Canterbury on 4 hectares. We now breed and train as well as rear pups. Snow dogs
Sam really enjoyed playing out in the snow. His kennel mate stayed snuggled up in the warm.
Tom was too nosy to stay in the warm.
Gallop getting a good water and cooling off.
When the snow first started falling the pups went nuts playing in it.

Water babies
Rex climbs into the water trough every time he gets near it. He lies flat out in it, puts his head under and would roll in it if he had the chance. The problem is he turns perfectly clean water into muddy stuff. Ted loves it as well. He climbs in too.

Pup stories!
Took the pups up the gallop for some free running, paddock is out of action because some fencing is down due to tree damage. After coming back I stop at the old concrete cattle water trough for the pups to have a drink. Today because it was warm Rex decided to get in to the trough and lie down in the water, the water half way over his back! What a character!
The rest of the pups are coming along nicely with various shapes and sizes and styles of galloping!
Photos hopefully later in the week.
